Greenburgh Businesses Prepare For Super Bowl Sunday

GREENBURGH, N.Y. — While most of Greenburgh is watching the Super Bowl this Sunday, Alex Sannella will be busy making sure more than 13,000 chicken wings are cooked to perfection.

Servers at Hurricane Grill and Wings in Hartsdale say they're preparing for an extremely busy night on Super Bowl Sunday.

Sannella, Hurricane Grill and Wings assistant manager, will join other Greenburgh businesses preparing for an influx of food orders and customers this Sunday. He recommended pre-ordering food from the Hartsdale restaurant, 149 S. Central Ave., before Sunday or you could be waiting for your wings for three hours.

Sannella said he had to hire extra drivers who don't usually work at Hurricane Grill and Wings to help with all the deliveries.

"We get extremely busy on Super Bowl Sunday," he said. "It's definitely in your best interest to place your order in advance."

Like Hurricane Grill and Wings, which will offer an in-house Super Bowl package for an all-you-can-eat buffet and drinks for $50, Mama Mia's pizzeria also has a special menu in the works.

A pizza party special, where you can buy four pizzas and get a fifth cheese pizza for free, is just one of several specials on Mama Mia's menu, said manager Sal Auricchio.

Auricchio said he'll have his entire staff working that day, as well as several extra drivers in anticipation of the flood of deliveries from the pizzeria, 1 S. Central Ave.

It's not just local restaurants that are getting ready for Feb. 3. Though Party City just opened in December, its selection of Super Bowl items has brought in a steady stream of customers, said manager Alex Onofrio. Greenburgh residents planning to hold a Super Bowl party can head to 431 Tarrytown Road for football tableware, balloons, serving trays, wristbands and other football-shaped items.

While it may not be a New York Giants or New York Jets bowl game, there's still Ravens and 49ers team gear available at the store, too, he added.
