NORWALK, Conn. -- It's not many companies that, in less than a year, find themselves the center of attention in Times Square.

But Dezzys Footwear, an online fashion-forward kids' shoe company founded by a Norwalk entrepreneur, recently had a 10-day billboard in the heart of New York City.

Since starting her business in October 2016, Devyn Taylor has not only created a different kind of children's sneaker, her company has been signed by a large national sales team that specializes in kid's shoes. (Her story, for the record, was one of our most-read features in 2017.)

"This is very big for the brand and is key to bringing in sales as well as getting into major retailers," said Taylor.

In addition, the mom of three said a pair of Dezzys were spotted on one of the kids in a Kevin Hart skit.

"Overall, the business is doing very well for only being a year old," she said.

Taylor, who has a corporate fashion industry background, came up with the idea after frustrations finding shoes for her son that weren't the adult downsized version of an overpriced Nike, Addidas or Jordan.

After getting in touch with a factory she had worked with in the past, she had her first pictures of samples -- and was off and running.

Dezzys' prides itself on offering a slender fit that's edgy and sporty and features original "fun" prints for girls and boys.

Hand in hand with Taylor's mission of delivering a product that's "cool" but yet still lets a kid be a kid, is the promise of giving back, especially to women and children suffering from domestic violence, depression, and poverty.

"We want to be a brand that gives back and show hope to people all over the world," stressed Taylor.

Most recently, she donated 75 pairs of shoes to homeless shelters in NYC.

"Every day is hard work and sometimes nerve-racking but I know there is a big light at the end of the tunnel," said Taylor.

"I can't wait to grow and be able to help more women and children around the globe."
