New Canaan Set For 'Taste Of The Town Stroll'

NEW CANAAN, Conn. — Stores and restaurants in downtown New Canaan are preparing for the third annual “Taste of the Town Stroll,” next week.

“We’re planning a Taste of the Town Stroll event that will not only deliver needed supplies for the Food Pantry, but will provide engaging activities throughout our village, as merchants and restaurants work together to make this a really fun event. As long as you make a pantry contribution, it’s all free for the public. Better yet, we have lots of prizes that we’ll give away at the end of the Stroll for all those who take part,” Tucker Murphy, executive director of the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce, said in a news release.

The event is a “food-raiser” for the New Canaan Food Pantry, and is free to the public in exchange for donations, the release said. Items needed include instant coffee, salad dressing, pasta sauce, canned chicken, peanut butter and jelly, dried fruits and nuts, crackers and cookies.

Walter Stewart’s Market is putting together donation packages for $15 and $25 with food worth $25 and $40, the release said.

In addition to getting to experience food and other activities throughout the night, there will be several chances to win prizes. The grand prize this year is a year membership at Oxygen Fitness.

The evening will begin at 6 p.m. at your choice of location: Chamber of Commerce, 91 Elm St.; Oxygen Fitness, 70 Pine St;  New Balance, 128 Main St.; or the Choose to be Happy Pop Up Place, 108 Main St. Prizes will be drawn at 9 p.m. , and you do not need to be present to win.
