NEW CANAAN. Conn. -- It's just a hop across the N.Y./Conn. border to The Heights and Brother's Vic's Lounge , a new 6,000-square-foot concert venue/banquet hall/restaurant that opened in the South Salem space formerly occupied by The Willows.
Owner Victor Ponzo, an ex-Wall Street executive, said he's long wanted to open a place where residents can enjoy good food and music.
His new venue, which features a lounge area in the front and a banquet area in the back, officially opened Friday, Feb. 10. This space, he said, is ideal for parties, weddings and other events, including live concerts.
Music is a huge part of The Height's mission. Ponzo is a musician -- he's in a band with other Lewisboro, N.Y. residents called Blues Corruption -- and is big on booking name-brand acts that rock. On the docket: Christine Ohlman & Rebel Montez (on Friday, Feb. 24), Hugh Pool (on Friday, March 3) and Vaneese Thomas (Saturday, March 4), to name a few.
Sporting events on screens in the lounge portion are also on the agenda with the Daytona 500 set for Sunday, Feb. 26.
High-quality food and cocktails are another important business component and Ponzo has brought in experts in the hospitality field to ensure customer satisfaction, among them General Manager Brian Gernant, Bar Manager Sue Vitiello, and Chef Matt White, from Cos Cob.
The Heights and Brother's Vic's Lounge is located at 920 Oakridge Commons, (914) 841-1597, www.theheightsatbrothervics.com/ .
