Pacioretty, who grew up in New Canaan, turns 27 on Friday. The ice hockey player was born Nov. 20, 1988, in New Canaan.

Pacioretty first played at New Canaan High School during his freshman year and later signed a three-year contract with the Canadiens on July 17, 2008.

He was drafted 22nd overall in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft by the Montreal Canadiens and made his NHL debut with the Montreal Canadiens on Jan. 2, 2009. He is the first player in franchise history to wear the jersey number 67.

In the 2011-12 NHL season, he become the team's points leader, finishing with a career high 33 goals and 32 assists in 79 games and won the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy.

On Aug. 12, 2012, Pacioretty signed a six-year, $27 million extension to his contract with the Canadiens. He was named an alternate captain as well.

On Feb. 6, 2014, he became the first Canadiens player to have two penalty shots in the same game, in Montreal against the Vancouver Canucks netminder Roberto Luongo and the second NHL player to be awarded two penalty shots in the same period.
