The event is from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

The Alliance's Progressive Gallery Tour stop at the Nylen Gallery coincides with the opening of an exhibition of watercolors by Stamford-based artist Olga Klymyk. Klymyk began her art career in her native Ukraine. She went on to teach in schools and in private lessons and began selling her works. She arrived in the United States in 2006 and became a citizen in 2011.

“I love to paint with watercolors, since it's my strongest point," Klymyk said. "It is hopeful that my previous success will be continued in the U.S."

Her paintings feature landscapes of New England, florals and still lifes. Klymyk will speak about her work at 6 p.m. Friday.

The Nylen Gallery is owned by Wendy Nylen, who graduated from Harvard University with a degree in art history. She managed Picture This in Westport for nine years, returning as gallery owner in 2007 after working in digital printing at Image Works of Westport. Nylen also is an artist working in pastel, acrylic and oils.

The Cultural Alliance's Progressive Gallery Tour began Sept. 30 at the C. Parker Gallery in Greenwich, and then visited the Fernando Luis Alvarez Gallery in Stamford in October, followed by a November stop at the Heather Gaudio Gallery in New Canaan.

The LeClerc Contemporary Gallery, in Norwalk, hosted a festive holiday party as its contribution to the tour, where attendees enjoyed a sculpture exhibit titled "Elements of Abstraction." The last stop, Jan. 20 at Southport Galleries, was full and vibrant, with many artists, collectors and arts supporters from throughout the region in attendance.

The Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County is dedicated to creating powerful connections among Fairfield County's diverse audiences, artists, organizations and creative businesses.
