NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- New York Times best-selling author Shaka Senghor will be the keynote speaker at Family ReEntry's 19th annual fundraising event June 10 at Grace Farms in New Canaan.

The event, scheduled to begin at 6 p.m., will include food, drinks, entertainment, an auction of vacations and will be highlighted by Senghor discussing justice in America.

“With a goal of raising $200,000, we are confident that we will host a spectacular evening that even tops our events from previous years," Family ReEntry Executive Director A. Stephen Lanza said. "And to be chosen by Grace Farms to host our event under their Justice Initiative is an incredible honor.”

Senghor is the director of strategy for #Cut50, a national bipartisan initiative to safely and smartly reduce the prison population by 50 percent by 2025. He also currently serves as a teacher at the University of Michigan.

His memoir, "Writing My Wrongs: Life, Death and Redemption in an American Prison" was released March 8 and debuted on The New York Times best seller list, as well as The Washington Post best seller list.

Senghor has garnered the 2016 Ford Man of Courage Award, the 2015 Manchester University Innovator of the Year Award and the 2012 Black Male Engagement Leadership Award.

Family ReEntry’s mission is to lead in the development and delivery of effective solutions that empower individuals and strengthen families impacted by the criminal justice system.

Grace Farms , a former horse farm, is a welcoming space where unique buildings are integrated into 80 acres of open space for visitors to experience nature, encounter the arts, pursue justice, foster community and explore faith.

Grace Farms is at 365 Lukes Wood Road, New Canaan.

Approximately 700 people are expected for the Family ReEntry event.

Tickets are priced at $200 and can be purchased by e-mailing Jeffrey Earls at jeffreyearls@familyreentry.org or calling 203-290-0865.
