Caramoor Center Presents A Family Concert With The Knights, Gil Shaham

KATONAH, N.Y. -- Fall into a Family Fun Afternoon at  Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts with Gil Shaham and The Knights on Sunday, Sept. 21, beginning at noon.

The Family Fun afternoon features a picnic area and concessions, a children’s concert in the Venetian Theater at 1 p.m. featuring music from around the world performed by The Knights orchestra and violinist Gil Shaham. A series of family-friendly activities beginning at 2 p.m. following the performance.

Brooklyn’s innovative orchestral collective The Knights and violinist Gil Shaham will perform music from around the world in the family concert with selections from Prokofiev, Dvo?ák, João Gilberto and more.

The concert is specifically designed for young children. The Knights will demonstrate rhythm games with the audience throughout the program.

Following the performance from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m., student and faculty musicians from The Music Conservatory of Westchester present Woodwinds in the North Gate Circle, Strings under the Tent and Sunken Garden Jazz.

The musicians will perform, demonstrate instruments and answer questions for children. Instruments will be available for children to touch and view up close.

"I Spy" Tours of the Rosen House will be available at 2:15 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Caramoor's "In The Garden of Sonic Delights" exhibition will be open all afternoon for those who wish to learn more about sound art and the return of Nerve Tank’s special interactive art work, "Sisyphus 2.0."

Great Performance’s Katchkie Farms Food Truck and food concessions will also be open. 

Attendees can also stop by the information tent to pick up a self-guided scavenger hunt and to enter a raffle.
