KATONAH, N.Y. -- For its 21st year, Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts features some of the greatest jazz musicians in the world at its Jazz Festival on Sunday, July 27.

Festivities will begin at noon and continue through the entire day. Festival artists include Emily Bear, John Beasley, Steve Turre, Renee Rosnes and Arturo O’Farrill and the Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra.

A rundown of events scheduled throughout the day is below.

The festival begins with a performance for the whole family when 12-year-old piano sensation Emily Bear and her trio take the stage at noon.

At 1 p.m., veteran jazz master John Beasley will lead a jam session with the Jazz House Kids, a group of musicians from the Montclair, N.J.-based arts organization devoted to providing year-round programs to young people, their families and teachers that encourage exploring and appreciating America's original musical art form: jazz.

Trombonist Steve Turre and the Steve Turre All-Stars will pay tribute to departed jazz trombone legend JJ Johnson at 2 p.m. The tribute features a performance and discussion of his work.

Beasley returns with a trio to present a set of the music of Thelonious Monk, and pianist Renee Rosnes offers a conversation and performance about the enduring music of tenor saxophonist Joe Henderson.

The day will close with Arturo O’Farrill and his Grammy Award-winning Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra, who will bring their energy and excitement to the Venetian Theater audience at 6:30 p.m.

The day will also allow plenty of time to picnic, either by bringing your own or trying out the Pizza Luca and Katchkie Farms food trucks on site. Explore Caramoor's sound art exhibition, "In the Garden of Sonic Delights" and the Rosen House with pre-reserved tours.
