These are the questions commuters and occasional riders of Connecticut’s commuter rail have been asking in recent years, and they will all be discussed Friday by longtime commuter advocate Jim Cameron when he addresses the Senior Men's Club of New Canaan.
Cameron, of Darien, said his talk, titled "Metro-North: From First to Worst" will chronicle the rapid decline in what was once a safe and on-time railroad.
“I try to explain why things went so bad so fast, what’s being done to address those problems and what the prospects are for improved service,” Cameron said in a press release.
Having served for 19 years on the Metro-North Rail Commuter Council, four of them as its chairman, Cameron resigned in 2013 to form a new advocacy organization, The Commuter Action Group.
He also is author of the newspaper column/blog/podcast “Talking Transportation,” which he has been writing for more than a decade.
His presentation will be at 10 a.m. Aug. 7 in Morrill Hall at St Mark’s Church, 111 Oenoke Ridge, New Canaan.
