Diabetes, Bariatric Support Groups Meet At Greenwich Hospital

GREENWICH, Conn. -- Diabetes and bariatric support groups are among some of the services provided by Greenwich Hospital.

A schedule of events is below.

Diabetes Support Group: Overcoming Barriers to Diabetes Management. Join Jennifer Denkin, PhD, psychologist, Weight Loss and Diabetes Center, on Monday, May 12, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. for this group discussion in Greenwich Hospital’s Noble Conference Center. This group meets monthly to discuss a variety of diabetes topics to help keep you informed and feeling your best. No registration necessary. For more information, call 203-863-3929. 

The Nurse Is In:  A nurse is on site to take blood pressure readings and answer health questions from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, at the Perrot Library, 90 Sound Beach Ave., Old Greenwich. For more information, call 203-863-4444. 

Bariatric Support Group: If you have had – or are planning to have – gastric bypass, lap band or sleeve gastrectomy surgery, you’re invited to get ongoing support and information at these monthly sessions. Guest speakers will address a variety of medical, nutritional and lifestyle topics to help you achieve the best possible outcomes. Held from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, in Greenwich Hospital’s Noble Conference Center. To register or for more information, call 203-863-3646. 

Panel Event: Racquet Sports Injury Prevention for Women: Join experts from the ONS Women’s Sports Medicine (Katie Vadasdi, MD, and Gloria Cohen, MD, orthopedic surgeons; Tatyana Kalyuzhny, PT; Patrick Hirscht, Tennis Pro, Round Hill Club) from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, in Greenwich Hospital’s Noble Conference Center for a discussion on body mechanics, injury warning signs, when to see the doctor and what’s new in orthopedic treatments.
