NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- The newly-formed RAM Council Foundation will present a panel discussion on "The Power of Prevention," on Thursday evening, March 31.
RAM Council Foundation president Joyce Sixsmith recently stopped by Kiwanis to present her vision for the foundation, a former club which is now an independent nonprofit which works with teens to develop healthy, substance-free living.
"We're very excited to present our panel discussion, 'The Power of Prevention: Success Stories and Strategies for Healthy Teen Years," Sixsmith said. "This will be a question-and-answer session featuring panelists such as St. Luke School's Headmaster Mark Davis and New Canaan First Selectman Rob Mallozzi."
Currently about 80 New Canaan High School students are members of the RAM Council Foundation, but Sixsmith is expecting continued growth among students and expanded involvement by parents.
"The kids are so terrific, and the parents have been wonderful," she said. "We come up with an idea, the kids are enthusiastic and the parents say, 'How can I help? What can we do?' It's been fantastic."
The event will be from 7:30-9 p.m. at New Canaan High School, 11 Farm Rd.
