The race will step off from 101 Barnum Dyke, Seaside Park in Bridgeport.

Check in starts at 8:30 a.m. with a Kids Dash (medals for all). The Run/Walk will be held rain or shine.

Walkers are welcomed and all those who wish to participate in support of Habitat CFC.

This is CFC’s 30th anniversary, and its 200th house is almost completed.

As part of the 30th Anniversary year celebration runners who cross the finish line are invited to sign a wood beam sending messages of support and well wishes to the 200th Habitat CFC homeowner, Rosalynn Hershiser, her two daughters, and 91-year-old mother.

Their Habitat CFC home will be located at 221 Beach St. in Bridgeport. In the last 13 years, the family has moved six times as Hershiser coped with high rent.

When asked what she is looking forward to the most about moving into her new home, Hershiser said, “Just going into the front door, I’ll be home at last. This is a dream come true.

"An apartment is never considered home. Our apartment is sparsely furnished, half my salary goes to rent. My goal has been to keep a roof over our heads and most of all, to keep my daughters and mother safe.”
