Democrats Add To Majority On Stamford's Board Of Representatives

STAMFORD, Conn. -- The new mayor in Stamford, David Martin, is a Democrat. And that party increased its numbers on the city's Board of Representatives in Tuesday's elections.

Here are the winners in the 20 districts for the city's Board of Representatives, according to Patch.com

  • District 1: Republicans Kieran Ryan and Mary Uva
  • District 2: Democrats Elaine Mitchell and Ben Velishka
  • District 3: Democrats Terry Adams and Elise Coleman
  • District 4:Democrats Willy Giraldo and Mary Savage
  • District 5 winners were Democrats Lila Wallace and Gloria DiPina
  • District 6: Democrats Annie Summerville and David Kooris
  • District 7: Democrats Monica Di Costanzo and Jay Fountain
  • District 8: Democrats Anabel Figueroa and Eileen Heaphy
  • District 9: Democrats Valerie McNeil and Shella Merritt
  • District 10: Democrats Phillip Giordano and Mavina Moore Sr.
  • District 11: Democrats John Zelinsky and Cynthia Reeder
  • District 12: Democrats Brien Buckman and Marion McGarry
  • District 13: Republican Harry Day and Democrat Keith Silver 
  • District 14: Republicans Carl Franzetti and Robert "Gabe" DeLuca
  • District 15: Republicans Joseph Coppola and Frank Cerasoli
  • District 16: Democrat Matt Quinones and Republican Demetrios Frazis
  • District 17: Democrat Suzanne Doyle and Republican Mary Fedeli
  • District 18: Republican candidates J.R. McMullen and Jim Caterbone
  • District 19: Republican Gail Okum and Democrat Randall Skigen
  • District 20: Republican Dennis Mahoney and Democrat Susan Nabel

In other races: 

Republican Town Clerk Donna Loglisci was re-elected in an uncontested race.

Republicans Salvatore Gabriele and Jerry Bosak along with Democrat Richard Freedman were voted onto the Board of Finance. 

Republican John Leydon Jr. and Democrats Richard Lyons and Geoff Alswanger were elected to the Board of Education. 

For constable, the winners were: Democrats Gloria DePina, Jon Gallup, Philip Giordano  and Ralph Serafino along with Republicans Bill Kemp, Joseph Tarzia and Ralph Loglisci. 

Also, both ballot questions were approved:

  • Question 1: Shall the number of members of the Water Pollution Control Authority be changed from five members to not fewer than five members?
  • Question 2: Shall the number of members of the Board of Ethics be changed from five members to not fewer than five members and two alternates?
