Chappaqua Sets Records in First Summer Swim Meet

CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. -- It was a record-breaking Tuesday for the Chappaqua Swim and Tennis team as it opened its Northern Westchester Swim Conference season. Chappaqua’s Wyatt Yates, Kasia Malendowicz and Carly Feinman all established new standards in their respective events as the team defeated the Yorktown Swim Club, 255-238 in the first summer meet for both teams.

Tommy St. Vincent -- 18-and-under boys, Malendowicz -- 12-and-under girls, and Yates -- eight-and-under boys, were all triple winners for Chappaqua.

Yates broke three team records in winning the 25-meter backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly. His pool record came in the breatstroke as he clocked in at 21.37 second, eclipsing the former mark of 21.40 second, set in 1967.

Malendowicz was victorious in the 50-meter backstroke, butterfly and freestyle. Her new record came in the freestyle with a time of 28.59 seconds, erasing Margo Diamond’s mark established in 1990. Feinman won the girls’ 18-and-under diving, scoring 136 points, shattering the old record of 130.95 points, dating back to 1994.

St. Vincent won the breaststroke, butterfly and freestyle. Teammates Kate Posner -- eight-and-under girls, butterfly, freestyle, Zoe Kerrich -- 14-and-under girls, breaststroke, butterfly, and Chris Koster -- backstroke, diving, were double-winners.
