Man Shot Overnight in South Norwalk

NORWALK, Conn. – A man was shot in the leg late Wednesday while walking in South Norwalk, police say. The 19-year-old victim was found lying in a driveway of the King Kennedy housing complex at 25 Chestnut Street at 11:58 p.m., Sgt. Lisa Cotto said.

The man's right thigh was bleeding and it looked like a gunshot wound to arriving officers. Police applied pressure to the wound and the victim was taken to Norwalk Hospital, where a bullet was found in his right leg.

The victim said he had been walking on Chestnut Street, heard shots and then realized he was shot. There were no calls reporting shots fired. No other people were injured and the victim told police he not did see anything.

The detective bureau is investigating.

There was also a report of shots fired in the vicinity Tuesday night. Police say they got one phone call reporting five shots at 11:37 p.m. at 51 Chestnut St., but found no evidence on the scene.
