Drug Bust, Bar Burglary Arrests In Peekskill

PEEKSKILL – A drug bust and a bar break-in were among city police arrests for the prior week. Spencer Reed, 57, of Peekskill was arrested on Aug. 19 at 6:45p.m. and charged with criminal possession of narcotics with intent to sell, a class B felony, in the lobby of the building located at 807 Main Street after police officers saw him behaving in a suspicious manner, said Peekskill Police Spokesman Sergeant Ray Henderlong.

“Undercover police officers observed him make an exchange with someone else,” Henderlong said.

Reed was found to be in possession of 25 individually wrapped bags of crack cocaine. He was held for arraignment in city court. Also arrested was Phillip Manwaring, 27, of Croton-on-Hudson, who was charged on Aug. 16 with breaking into Chuck and Ollie’s Bar and Grill on Central Ave. on Aug. 4 at approximately 3:15 a.m. Manwaring entered the bar illegally but fled with only some spare change when an employee showed up at the establishment. The employee did not see the suspect’s face before he fled.

“An investigation was done through use of video from area cameras that assisted in identifying the suspect,” Henderlong said. Manwaring was held for arraignment in city court.
