Flores was born Dec. 14, 1951, in Barranquilla, Colombia, and was the daughter of Heremenegildo and Graciela Cuevas Pena. She and her husband Manuel were members of the Star of Jacob Pentecostal Church of New Haven. She first worked for Vectron Labs in Norwalk for 10 years, and had been currently employed for over 20 years with Covidien, (formerly U.S. Surgical Corp.), of North Haven.
Flores is survived by her daughter, Sandra Flores Dougherty (Chad) of Bristol; brothers, Jose (Carmen) Pena, of Hialeah, Fla., Hermenegildo (Louisa) Pena and Alfonso Pena, all of Barranquilla, Colombia; sisters, Amalia (Manuel) Castro, of Stamford, Sonia (Juan) Pena Sandoval, of Barranquilla, Colombia and Graciela Pena, of Venezuela; and nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Manuel Solomon Flores; and brother, Enrique Pena.
Calling hours are Wednesday, April 15 from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Star of Jacob Pentecostal Church, 506 Howard Ave., New Haven, with a religious service at 7 p.m. The funeral will leave from the church, Thursday morning, at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, West Haven.
