Weston Library Offers Memoir Writing Workshop

WESTON, Conn. – If you have a lifetime of memories you’d like to record, attend the “Memoir Writing and Self-Publishing” workshop from 12:30-2 p.m. Thursday at the Weston Public Library.

Marcelle Soviero, Wilton author and Editor-in-Chief of “Brain, Child: The Magazine for Thinking Mothers” who self-published “An Iridescent Life,” a collection of personal essays will instruct the workshop.

Soviero said the memoir writing portion of the workshop “will cover how to get started, how to document life stories, descriptive writing and using tools of fiction and non-fiction.”

The self-publishing segment is based on her personal experience publishing her book via CreateSpace, the Amazon platform. “I’ll cover how to choose a vendor, how to distribute your book, how to price it and how to design the book and the cover,” she said.

Soveiro started her magazine in 2000 and published her book last year. She also teaches at the Westport Writers Workshop and through Wilton Continuing Education.

The workshop, sponsored by the Friends of the Weston Library’s Lunch & Learn series, is free.
