Wet Mess: Rain Overspreads Dutchess - A Look At How Long It Will Last

DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- It's not exactly an ideal way to lead into the traditional start of summer.

Around an inch of rain is expected in Dutchess through Friday and the start of Memorial Day weekend.

Rain overspread the area Thursday morning. It is expected to continue on and off during the day with a thunderstorm possible through the evening on a raw day that will be much cooler with a high temperature in the mid- to upper-50s.

The heaviest rain Thursday will be before 2 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. The rest of the afternoon will be continued cloudy with spotty showers, and then showers and drizzle returning after 10 p.m. with thunderstorms likely.

Showers will linger Friday during a mostly cloudy day with a high in the mid-60s.

The best day of Memorial Day weekend will be Saturday, with partly sunny skies and temperatures a bit warmer, with a high near 70.

Sunday will be a mostly cloudy day with a chance of showers and a high in the low-60s.

Monday will again be cloudy, with a chance of a thunderstorm, and a high struggling to reach 60 degrees.
