Their family eatery, Aby's Mexican Restaurant, has been a staple on the Jersey Shore since May 2002 when it first opened, providing some of the best Mexican dishes in the area.

Just a month shy of their 20th anniversary, tragedy struck. Multiple fire companies responded to Aby's at 32 Mian St. in Matawan at about 2:50 a.m. on Tuesday, April 5.

This GoFundMe page has been organized by Bryan Zakutansky to help with some of the costs associated with the fire.

"As you can imagine, the family is now devastated by the loss of their pride and joy. With the restaurant being their primary source of income and supporting their family for the last twenty years, there is a long road ahead," Zakutansky wrote.

"We're hoping this fundraiser will help with the sudden and unexpected financial hardships the Martinez family has incurred from this loss."

Donor Dena Orfanitopoulos commented: "Sending love! We always enjoy our meals at Aby's. You will be back stronger!!"
