20-Year-Old From Norwalk Surrenders After Causing Reckless Driving Crash In Darien, Police Say

A 20-year-old man accused of causing a single-car crash in Fairfield County has surrendered to police more than a month later.

The wreck happened Sunday, Sept. 3, in Darien on Hollow Tree Ridge Road near Allwood Road, according to Darien Police.

An investigation found that Griffin Makovsky, of Norwalk, was speeding and ran a stop sign before crashing over a rock wall and striking a tree.

No other vehicles were involved and there were no reports of injuries.

On Saturday Oct. 21, Makovsky turned himself in on an active arrest warrant stemming from the crash.

He is charged with the following:

  • Reckless driving
  • Improper turn
  • Failure to obey a stop sign

Makovsky was later released from custody. He is due back in court on Friday, Nov. 3.
