Barz, Rockland’s only gay club, had been open for 22 years before its owners sold the business last month and opted to retire, according to lohud.com.

The club’s owners said greater acceptance of gays and lesbians has made clubs like Barz “less essential,” according to lohud.com.

The new business, which will be owned by Rob Waxtel, will serve steaks, burgers and barbecue, according to lohud.com, which reported that Waxtel is a co-owner of Rockland Pinball in Nanuet.
