You have 24 hours to support any one of 431 participating nonprofits, said Development Director Kristy Jelenik.

"We created Giving Day four years ago to shine a bright light on the giving community of each town and city," she told Daily Voice.

"It's a way for the everyday citizen to be included in philanthropy."

"Donations can be as low as 10 dollars. People are surprised to learn about all the organizations in their own backyard. Our tag line is '24 hours to give where you."

"These organizations are so important. They need funding and need more people to support them," Jelenik said.

Last year the effort raised $1,246,964 from 410 donors. That helped 410 nonprofits.
