The annual event is free, though visitors can enter dog-themed contests and shop at the Pet Pantry Warehouse throughout the day; part of those proceeds will support Fairfield County animal rescue organizations such as Adopt-A-Dog and Strays & Others.

"Pet Pantry is a community driven family business and we’ve been hosting local events for many years at our other locations,” Adam Jacobson, Pet Pantry executive vice president, said in a press release. “These events bring our communities together and we're honored to have the opportunity to continue the annual Dog Days of Summer event in New Canaan. I really encourage all to join because we're taking this year’s event to the next level.”

Entertainment will include a children’s activity tent, a DJ, pony rides, a petting zoo and a chance to meet some of the dogs in the care of Adopt-A-Dog.

“Pet Pantry Warehouse is a longtime Adopt-A-Dog benefactor, without their support we wouldn't have the ability to care for the amount of rescues we take in throughout the year,” Brian Gordiski from Adopt-A-Dog said in a press release. “We're all excited for this event and look forward to introducing some of our wonderful four legged friends”.

Pet Pantry Warehouse’s New Canaan location is 21 Grove St. Parking for this year’s Dog Days will be available at the New Canaan Metro-North Railroad Station, 198 Elm St.
