NEW CANAAN, Conn. — This Thursday New Canaan will be celebrating the Fourth of July with its 33rd Annual Family Fourth Fireworks at Waveny Park.

The park will open at 5 p.m. with food, drinks, and ice cream, the town band, inflatable bouncers for children, and the Great Sirico Magician. The fireworks are scheduled to go off around 9 p.m.

Cars must enter through the South Avenue entrance, and have the parking pass displayed in the windshield. Parking is not allowed on the adjacent streets and Lapham Road will be closed to traffic. Pedestrians are allowed to enter through the high school area.

Parking passes are $30 for residents and the limited amount of non-resident passes are $60 and are on sale through Wednesday at the Recreation Department, which is on the second floor of the Waveny House. Only cash and checks will be accepted for payment, and proof of residency is required.

The rain date will be July 5. If there is inclement weather you should check the town website or call 203-594-3610. Do not call the Police or Fire departments.
