NEW CANAAN, Conn. – The Silvermine Arts Center in New Canaan will host its popular Artisan’s Trunk Show and Art Materials and Equipment Tag Sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 7 at the Gallery and School of Art.
The special sale day is a tax-free event at Silvermine. Low prices – $1 to $5 for many items – can be found throughout the tag sale. Items include paints (oil, acrylic, watercolor or pastels), paper (including card stock and hand-made paper), frames, stretcher bars, cameras, sculpture supplies, art books and a variety of donated art equipment. All proceeds from the tag sale go toward the School of Art Scholarship Fund for children.
At the trunk show, discover one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces, artisan ceramics, elegant vases, sculptural baskets and numerous other unique offerings for Mother’s Day, birthdays or spring graduates. Artisans will be on hand to talk about their pieces and their artistic processes. Featured in the spring trunk show:

- Ceramics and jewelry by Karen Ford
- Ceramics by Romi Hefetz
- Metal jewelry and metal sculpture by Steven Wallerstein
- Unique, sculptural woven baskets by Tina Puckett
While the sales are in progress, shoppers can visit the Silvermine Galleries, where the faculty exhibition will be up and running, showing the artistic achievements of Silvermine’s distinguished faculty.
Those wishing to donate art materials to the tag sale can drop off items from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.
