NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- The Town Players of New Canaan will hold open auditions for "Our Town" by Thornton Wilder on Aug. 26 and 27 at 7 p.m. at the Powerhouse Theatre in Waveny Park.
This year will also mark the 31st year the Town Players have called the Powerhouse home.
"New Canaan is a perfect place to do this play," Sheri Dean, co-president of the Town Players said, in a statement.
Dean went on to credit the "distinct identity and plenty of colorful characters" of the community, comparing it to Grover's Corners--the fictional setting for the play.
The production will be directed by Julie Bell Petrak and will open on Oct. 25.
Other offerings for the new season will include:
- A holiday "panto," a musical comedy for children and adults, directed by Patrick Kiley--in December;
- "The Governor's Son," a new political drama by local playwright Jim Gordon, directed by Gary Battaglia--opening in February;
- "Skylight" by David Hare, winner of the "Best Play" Tony in 1997, directed by Tim Cronin--in May; and
- "Lend Me a Tenor" by Ken Ludwig, a popular farce comedy directed by Tom Butterworth--in summer of 2014.
