Sponsors Spice Up Chilifest In Westport

WESTPORT, Conn. – With just three weeks to go until the Chilifest in Westport, sponsors are lining up with support.

Volvo of Westport is giving away VIP (Volvo Important People) parking passes for preferred parking spots for current or prospective Volvo owners who visit the dealership before Jan. 29. Tickets are limited and are based on a first-come, first-served basis, said organizer Jim Keenan.

Tony Aitoro of Aitoro's Appliances in Norwalk will be handing out freshly baked chocolate chunk cookies at Chilifest.

The Greens at Cannondale, an assisted senior living facility in Wilton, will be providing senior assistance the day of the event. Their culinary staff will be handing out samples of their treats as well.

Local Kitchen & Beer Bar of Norwalk and Fairfield are handing out free “Support Your Local Fire Department” bumper stickers in support of their firehouse chili category sponsorship, which will be available at their restaurant locations as well as at all fire department booths at Chilifest.

Stop & Shop will be promoting the event during Saturdays in January with chili sampling in Norwalk on Jan. 17, Fairfield on Jan. 24 and Westport on Jan 31. Additionally, they'll be sponsoring the water station at Chilifest.

WEBE-FM 108 begins on-air ticket giveaways next week.

US Foods donated the ingredients for the fire house chili, plus Liquid Lunch of Shelton & Milford and Rowayton Seafood will help firefighters prepare their chili for the competition.

Chilifest is a culinary competition among twelve area restaurants and six town fire departments, scheduled for Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 1 at the Bedford Middle School in Westport from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Attendees are encouraged to wear their favorite football jersey, while enjoying the Sacred Heart Band and sampling chili.

Online tickets, available at www.Come2Chilifest.com, are $10 for adults and $5 for kids ages six through 12 until Jan. 31. Tickets at the door will be $15.
