STAMFORD, Conn. -- In a sure sign that spring is just around the corner, Stamford is gearing up for its 19th annual St. Patricks Day parade, to be held on Saturday, March 8, at noon.
Joe Tooher, a Stamford High Class of 1948 alum and lawyer, will serve as the parade's grand marshal. He will be honored at the Grand Marshal dinner on Friday, March 7, at the Sheraton Stamford at 6:30 p.m. Remaining tickets for that event are $130 each.
On Saturday, the parade route will once again step off on Main Street at Columbus Park, head east on Main Street, then make a left onto Atlantic Street.
From there it will proceed north on Atlantic Street and continue onto Bedford Street before making a right onto Walton Place, where it will end.
Bagpipe groups, fife and drum corps, Irish step dancers, uniformed officers and members of the military from around the state and beyond will participate in the parade.
