This children’s show recommended for kids ages 3 to 7 is based on the book by Marie-Louie Gay, the award-winning creator of “Stella and Sam.”
With puppetry, original music, and scenic effects, “Stella, Queen of the Snow” tells the story of an endearing sister and her younger brother as they spend the day playing in the snow. The forest snowballs and snow angels fuel Sam’s questions and Stella’s answers as they embrace the world of winter.
Pre-show activities will be held at noon and 3 p.m. Children will play a series of environmental theater games, using their imaginations to create a winter wonderland.
The show is produced by the Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia and runs for one hour. Tickets are $20 each.
Canadian author Marie-Louise Gay has released more than 60 titles and achieved international acclaim for her work, now available in more than 15 languages. She is a winner of the Governor General’s Award and the Marilyn Baillie Picture Book Award.
“Stella, Queen of the Snow” is part of The Playhouse’s Family Festivities Series. Upcoming shows are “The Lightning Thief,” on Feb. 8 and “Dog Loves Books” on March 1.
During each Family Festivities performance, The Playhouse will host a book collection for Read to Grow Inc.
Bins will be located in the Playhouse lobby for donations of gently used and new children’s books, which will be given to families in the greater Fairfield County area with limited access and to community resources.
