New Canaan Library Movie Mondays: 4 p.m. Join the New Canaan Library for Movie Mondays. This week’s movie is “Hope Springs.” The film will be screened in the Plaut Room, New Canaan Library, 151 Main St.

New Canaan Board of Education: 7:30 p.m. The New Canaan Board of Education will have its regular meeting. Among the items on the agenda is a first read of the proposed 2013-14 schools budget. New Canaan High School, 11 Farm Road.

Tuesday, Jan. 8

New Canaan Board of Selectmen: 9 a.m. The Board of Selectmen will have its regular meeting. New Canaan Police Department, 174 South Ave.

Wednesday, Jan. 9

New Canaan Library Pizza and Pages Book Club: 6:30 p.m.  A monthly book club for readers in grades 6 and 7. Discuss hilarious stories with librarians Gretchen Kolderup and Cathy Townsend. This month, don't panic as you take to the stars with Arthur Dent and Ford Prefect in "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" by Douglas Adams. Pizza dinner will be served. Thursday, Jan. 10

Obsessed With Nail Art at New Canaan Library: 5 p.m. Are you obsessed with nails? Join librarians Gretchen and Marie to experiment with and learn fabulous nail art techniques while book-talking some favorite titles. You'll go home with new nail art skills and new books to read. The program is for students in grades 5 and up. New Canaan Library, 151 Main St.

Friday, Jan. 11

Don Axelrod’s Disintegration Of Truth And Trust at Silvermine Arts Center: Noon to 5 p.m. Donald Axleroad's new body of work in "Disintegration of Truth & Trust" was created in response to current events and the contemporary issues of today's world. Through imagery and symbols, Don explores the dissolution of American culture; a time and place where dishonesty has become the norm, and for many, innocence has been lost and the American Dream has been shattered. Silvermine Arts Center, 1037 Silvermine Road.
