Monday, Jan. 14 New Canaan Library Movie Mondays: 4 p.m. Join the New Canaan Library for Monday for Movie Mondays. This week’s movie is “Moonrise Kingdom.” The film will be screened in the Plaut Room. New Canaan Library. 151 Main St.

New Canaan Inland Wetlands Commission: 7 p.m. The New Canaan Inland Wetlands Commission will hold a regular meeting. New Canaan Nature Center, 144 Oenoke Ridge.

Tuesday, Jan. 15 New Canaan Board of Selectmen special meeting:  6:30 p.m.  The Board of Selectmen will hold a special joint meeting with the Board of Finance and Town Council to discuss presentations for the proposed 2013-14 fiscal year budget. New Canaan Nature Center, 144 Oenoke Ridge.

Wednesday, Jan. 16 Venture Moms Reveal Their Secrets For Success at New Canaan Library: 10 a.m. Learn the five things that most mom entrepreneurs have in common and see how you can use them for your venture idea. Topics will include picking the right name, marketing and using social media to build your brand. New Canaan Library, 151 Main St.

Thursday, Jan. 17. New Canaan Library Teen Critics: 6 p.m. This month, instead of choosing a specific book for everyone to read and discuss, the Teen Critics Group has decided to have everyone read a book about the end of the world -- a natural disaster, a dystopian society, a zombie apocalypse, whatever you want -- and then discuss all of those different books and graphic novels. The group will meet in the Teen Area for pizza and a book discussion. They will also choose a book for February. The group is for students in grades 7 to 9. New Canaan Library, 151 Main St.

Friday, Jan. 18 New Canaan High School Girls’ Basketball: 7 p.m. The New Canaan Rams will play host to the Staples High School Wreckers. New Canaan High School, 11 Farm Road.
