Monday, March 5 New Canaan Board of Education Meeting: 7:30 p.m. The board of education is expected to discuss the proposed 2012-13 fiscal year budget and the contract negotiations. The meeting will be held at New Canaan High School, 11 Farm Road.
Dr. Matthew Warshauer on the Civil War in Connecticut: 7:30 p.m. Dr. Matthew Warshauer, professor of history at Central Connecticut State University and co-chair of the Connecticut Civil War Commemoration Commission, will discuss his new book, Connecticut in the American Civil War: Slavery, Sacrifice and Survival, as well as the plans that are underway for the states 150th anniversary of the war. The event will be held at the New Canaan Library, 151 Main St.
Tuesday, March 6 New Canaan Board of Selectmen: 9 a.m. The Board of Selectmen will vote on several matters, including applying for a grant for the Getabaout senior transportation system. The vote will take place at New Canaan Town Hall, 77 Main St. New Canaan Board of Finance: 7:30 p.m. The New Canaan Board of Finance is expected to approve the proposed 2012-13 proposed budget. New Canaan Library Friends Lunch Bunch: Noon. The Friends Lunch Bunch Book Group will meet and be led by Sylvia Savage. The book Sylvia will be discussing is The Sense of an Ending by Julian Barnes. Lunch will be served. The event will take place at the New Canaan Library, 151 Main St.
New Canaan Town Council Subcommittee: 6:15 p.m. The New Canaan Town Council Lakeview Avenue Subcommittee will review recommendations for the Lakeview Avenue arbitration case. The meeting will be held at New Canaan Town Hall, 77 Main St.
Thursday, March 8 New Canaan Library Teen Critics: 6 p.m. The New Canaan Library Teen Critics will meet to discuss Divergent by V eronica Roth . The group will also choose its book for April. The Teen Critics Club is for children in grades seven to 12. It will meet at the New Canaan Library, 151 Main St.
Friday, March 9 Same Time, Next Year: 8 p.m. The Town Players of New Canaan will perform in Same Time, Next Year at the Powerhouse Theater in Waveny Park. The plot follows a love affair between two people who are married to others, but rendezvous once a year. The production is directed by Chris Peterson. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for children and seniors.
