Folktale Readers Theater at New Canaan Library: 3:30 p.m. Do you enjoy acting? Bring your friends to the library to play characters in some of your favorite folktales. Experiment with different voices and expressions as you read the scripts of familiar stories. The program is for kids in ages 3 to 5. New Canaan Library, 151 Main St.
Summer Movie Mondays at New Canaan Library: 4 p.m. Join the library for a screening of "Midnight In Paris" in the library’s Plaut Room. New Canaan Library, 151 Main St.

New Canaan Planning and Zoning Commission Special Meeting: 6 p.m. The planning and zoning commission will have a special meeting. Among the items on the agenda is discussion regarding the proposed renovations to the Locust Avenue parking lot. New Canaan Town Hall, 77 Main St.
Heather Gaudio Fine Art presents Black + White: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The exhibition features works by 14 international artists and will exhibit will offer paintings, photographs, works on paper and sculpture, all in black and white. Young Critics Book Discussion Club: 6:30 p.m. The Young Critics meet to discuss Where the Mountain Meets the Moon by Grace Lin. Kids entering grades 4 to 6 can join Librarian Cathy Townsend for a pizza dinner and book discussion. New Canaan Library, 151 Main St.

New Canaan Historic District Commission: 5 p.m. The club will have its regular meeting. New Canaan Town Hall, 77 Main St.
Liza Klaussmann Speaks at New Canaan Library: 7 p.m. Journalist Liza Klaussmann’s debut novel, "Tigers in Red Weather," is a riveting tale surrounding a mid-century murder that disrupts a wealthy family’s life on Martha’s Vineyard. Klaussmann, a great-great-great granddaughter of Herman Melville, will speak as part of the Library’s Authors on Stage series. New Canaan Library, 151 Main St.
Friday, July 27
The Summer Theater of New Canaan: "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat": 8 p.m. General admission seats start at $20 for open lawn seating and picnics. Performances will be held at 8 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays and 3 p.m. Sundays through Aug. 5. Waveny Park.
Silvermine Arts Center’s Student Exhibition: Noon to 5 p.m. The Silvermine Arts Center’s Student Exhibition showcases the artistic achievements of the Silvermine School of Art students of all ages, from youth to adult. This event provides students the opportunity to share their accomplishments with one another and offers the general public a view of the fine art and creative energy that is generated by the student body. Awards given for this exhibition includes the adult category as well as youth categories for students age 5 to 10 and 11 to 17. The gallery is open from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday to Saturday, 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday and by appointment Monday and Tuesday.
