Reception for new Schools Superintendent Mary Kolek: 6:30 p.m. New Canaan residents are invited to greet Mary Kolek for a reception prior to Monday’s board of education meeting. New Canaan High School, 11 Farm Road.

New Canaan Board of Education Meeting: 7:30 p.m. The school board will have its regular meeting. Among the items to be discussed are the elementary school enrollment discussion and the date for New Canaan High School’s 2012 graduation. New Canaan High School, 11 Farm Road.

Tuesday, April 10 New Canaan Board of Selectmen: 9 a.m. The New Canaan Board of Selectmen will have its regular meeting. Among the items to be discussed are hiring a firm to study tiered parking at the Locust Avenue parking deck and to hear a report from the Market Demand Study Committee. New Canaan Town Hall, 77 Main St. Joint meeting of the New Canaan Inland Wetlands and Planning and Zoning Commissions: 7 p.m. The commissions will host a joint meeting to discuss the proposed housing development at Jelliff Mill Road. Wednesday, April 11

Screening of Downtown Abbey at New Canaan Library : 3 p.m. Join the library for a screening of the series. New Canaan Library, 151 Main St.

Deborah Freedman at New Canaan Library: 4 p.m. The author will speak on her book, “Blue Chicken,” as part of the library’s celebration of National Library Week. New Canaan Library, 151 Main St.

Thursday, April 12 New Canaan Library Tales For Tots: 9:30 a.m. Drop in for 30 minutes of action songs, rhymes and stories. The stories are for ages 18 to 36 months with a caregiver. New Canaan Library, 151 Main St.

Author Lisa Scottoline at New Canaan Library: Noon. Lisa Scottoline, author of “Come Home,” will speak as part of Authors on Stage in the Adrian Lamb Room.  Scottoline is most known for her New York Times bestsellers “ Save Me ,” “ Think Twice ” and “ Look Again .”  Her new novel, “Come Home,” has suspense and tells the story of a mother who sacrifices her future for a child from her past.
