GREENWICH, Conn. -- The YMCA of Greenwich honored Frank A. Corvino, president and CEO of Greenwich Hospital, at its “Set Sail Destination Havana 1940” gala on Saturday, March 1, at the Delamar Hotel.

At the sold-out gala, more than 300 guests traveled back in time to an era of sophistication and enjoyed a light dinner, cocktails and a silent auction, as well as dancing and entertainment. The cuisine had a distinctly Cuban flair and the décor was reminiscent of 1940s Havana.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the YMCA’s scholarships for the day-care, after-school and summer camp programs, as well as ensuring that the Y can continue to provide programs and membership for the entire community.

“I am honored to receive this award from the YMCA of Greenwich," Corvino said in accepting the YMCA of Greenwich’s honor.

"They are a pillar of our Greenwich Community. We believe strongly in their mission of healthy living for the body and soul. In fact, with the cost of healthcare going up we would much rather see all of you at the YMCA working out and getting healthy through exercise, then at the hospital.”

Corvino was presented with a plaque in recognition of his efforts to advance healthy living in the Greenwich community and his service to the community by James Cabrera, chairman of the board of the YMCA.

“In the 26 years that Frank has been at Greenwich Hospital he has developed a first class medical facility that has earned a national reputation for outstanding patient care," Cabrera said in presenting the award.

"Nobody embodies the YMCA philosophy of excellence in healthy living better than Frank. We are proud to honor him.”
