Connecticut Ranked Second Least Friendly Tax State In U.S

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Residents of Fairfield County can take solace in knowing that Connecticut isn't the worst state in the U.S. for taxes. But it's close, if you ask Kiplinger, which rated it the second worst state behind California.

The publication cited Connecticut's median property tax as the biggest reason for the poor ranking. Connecticut has the second highest property taxes behind New Jersey, according to Kiplinger.

Also having a negative impact on the Nutmeg State's ranking is the property tax assessed on vehicles, which are taxed at 6.35 percent for vehicles valued at less than $50,000 and 7 percent for those more than that amount.

New Jersey, New York, Hawaii, Rhode Island, Maine, Minnesota, Vermont and Illinois rounded out the Top 10 least-friendly tax states.
