The October event kicked off the Greenwich United Way’s annual campaign with comedians Jon Fisch, Mike Vecchione and Joe Matarese leading the way in the fun-filled event.

The goal is to make Comedy Night “a must go to event” said co-chair Nina Bliley. “We plan to keep it fresh with hilarious comedians, maybe adding a few more of the fabulous food trucks and we’ll continue to keep the vibe fun with live music.”

Anne Franscioni and Erin McCall were the other co-chairs of the event.

“Our job this year was to create a buzz about this relatively new event, and ensure that the United Way donor base understood that this replaced Oktoberfest," Franscioni said. "We also wanted to make sure we put on a spectacular and well-attended inaugural event so that the United Way could grow from it and build for the following years."

The co-chairs husbands: Duncan McCall, Jay Bliley and John Franscioni emceed the event after a late cancellation by the original talent.

In previous years, Comedy Night was held in a different capacity as a fundraiser for Community Answers, a free information and referral program that was created and managed by United Way and that has served Greenwich since 1969.

This year, the United Way took over the event. Community Answers is changing venues this year from the Greenwich Library, and moving in to the Greenwich United Way office.

Money raised will directly benefit those who have urgent unmet needs in the community. The process in which these needs are discovered is through the United Way’s Needs Assessment research program lead by the Community Planning Council.

Brew-Ha-Ha exceeded an attendance goal of 300, with over 340 attendees.
