A name long familiar to vineyards and restaurants, Dacor’s newest offering allows oenophiles to keep their home wine collections tasting as intended, up to a month after the cork has been pulled.

Although they only became available three months ago, there has been considerable buzz surrounding the luxury dispenser says Frank Garnett, a Luxury Appliance Sales and Design Coordinator at White Plains' Leiberts Royal Green Appliance Center, an authorized Dacor dealer. “This is the first residential model designed exclusively for the home,” he said, citing its compact size and reasonable price as drawing interests in a hobby known for its daunting price tags.

Traditional corked wine has a shelf life of 2-3 days, Garnett explained, as oxygen trapped in the neck of a bottle quickly spoils flavor. What Dacor has done to eliminate this ‘wine poisoning’ is patent a universal valve that sits on the mouth of the bottle, keeping oxygen out and filling the empty space with harmless argon gas. Argon leaves the wine’s flavor fully intact, allowing bottles to remain in the WineStation for up to 60 days, according to Garnett.

The WineStation is able to hold four bottles at a time, and allows drinkers to choose from drink sizes ranging from sample to full glass with the touch of a button. Each dispenser’s LCD screen can be customized to display the vintage’s name, year, and vineyard to make for easy pouring.

Currently available in select retailers across the country, the WineStation has drawn considerable interest from amateur and professional wine connoisseurs alike, says Garnett.
