New Canaan Recreation Hosts Special October Programs

NEW CANAAN, Conn.-- The New Canaan Recreation Department will host a series of special programs throughout the month of October.

Here's a look at some of the special fall offerings:

The Waveny House, at 677 South Ave. in New Canaan, will host a pumpkin-painting party for boys and girls ages 4 to 10 years old on Oct. 21 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Registration is $10 and space is limited. 

On Oct. 25, the Waveny House will host a Halloween Party Family Fun Night from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Those who attend are encouraged to come in costume and the party is geared toward children ages 3 to 12 years old. Registration for the party is $15. 

Youth Programs held in October will include a four-week paddle tennis class for children in grades five through eight held at the Waveny Paddle courts, beginning Oct. 6.  Boys' classes will be held on Mondays at 3:30 p.m. and girls' classes will be on Mondays at 4:30 p.m.

The fall and winter squash program for children in second grade and up are scheduled to begin the first week of October. Exact time and location of the courses will be provided to those that register. 

Adult programs will include both a beginner and an intermediate paddle clinic. The beginner clinic will take place on Sundays at 3 p.m. for men and 4 p.m. for women. The intermediate program will be held on Sundays from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
