All funds raised through ‘Swinging for Seniors’ provide financial assistance to residents and patients who cannot afford the full cost of their care at Waveny, as well as special program enhancements.

Karl Chevrolet will showcase a 2016 Chevrolet and provide golfers with the chance to win the car on the 7th hole. Participants will also have the opportunity to win a $10,000 cash prize on an additional Hole-in-One sponsored by Stronghold Insurance & Financial Services.

“Waveny is a vitally important institution in town and we are proud to help them help other people,” said Stephen J. Karl, Vice President of Karl Chevrolet. “It was particularly rewarding last year when the unthinkable happened and longtime event golfer, John Polera, bagged the hole-in-one to take home a 2015 Corvette Stingray valued at $75,000. It was a win-win situation for everyone involved!”

With 12 $5,000 Gold Sponsors thus far, Karl joins a growing number of event supporters including American Transit Insurance, Dede and Jim Bartlett, Bourgeon Capital Management – John Zaro, Frank and Marigrace Dubas, Linda and Jay Twombly, Employee Benefits Solution, Four Friends of Waveny, Louise Goodridge, Joan F. Dionne Foundation, JPS & Co. – Jim Slattery, Morrison Community Living, and Muffy and Tom Lewis.

Following a full day of golf and tennis, the ‘Swinging for Seniors’ event features an acclaimed raffle held during the reception and award ceremony. Raffle Chair, Julianne Grace, announced that the prizes donated thus far are collectively valued at $11,000 and continue to grow thanks to the community’s generosity. “We are thankful for the commitment and dedication of our committee members who help to make the raffle a tremendously exciting part of our event each year,” said Grace. “We urge everyone to support those merchants who support Waveny through their generosity.”

Waveny’s ‘Swinging for Seniors’ event welcomes golf and tennis enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels, and there is still time to register and participate.
