NEW CANAAN, Conn. – New Canaan is joining the Fairfield County restaurant revolution. South End will take over the Pine Street space once occupied by the short-lived Pine Social.

South End comes to New Canaan via chef and owner Nicholas Martschenko, whose previous experience includes time in the kitchen at Manhattan’s famous Gramercy Tavern.

The word on Pine Street is that the menu will consist of contemporary American cuisine for lunch and dinner, with a nod to affordability without sacrificing quality.

Martschenko and his business partner, Keith Siskind of Port Chester’s Tarry Lodge, are looking to open South End this August.

Look for South End later this summer at 36 Pine St.
