Waveny Plans Memory Health Seminar In New Canaan

NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- Waveny LifeCare Network will sponsor a free presentation, “Maintaining a Healthy Brain over the Lifespan,” at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, at The Village at Waveny, 3 Farm Road, New Canaan.

The featured speaker, neuropsychologist Robert Tepley, Ph.D., of Waveny’s Brown Geriatric Evaluation Clinic, will lead a discussion on normal aging, dementia and current Alzheimer’s disease research, as well as compare and contrast symptoms of normal aging against those of dementia.

Tepley specializes in neuropsychological evaluation and treatment of cognitive impairment, dementia, medically unexplained symptoms and illnesses, developmental and learning disabilities, traumatic brain injury and chronic pain syndromes.

Tepley has presented to physician groups, hospital staffs, and at regional and national professional conferences on various topics, including neuropsychological evaluation of mild cognitive impairment and dementia, neuropsychological aspects of medically unexplained illnesses, behavioral management of the brain injured patient, personality assessment following brain injury or illness and the nature of traumatic memories.

In addition to practicing at Waveny’s Brown Geriatric Evaluation Clinic, Tepley is the founder of Neuropsychology Consultants LLC, and is appointed to the allied health medical staff at Norwalk Hospital. He received his doctorate in psychology from the University of Texas at Austin, completed his internship in neuropsychology at Edith Norse Rogers Memorial Hospital in Bedford, Mass., and completed postdoctoral residence training in clinical psychology and neuropsychology at Norwalk Hospital.

He also is a trained marriage and family therapist with a master's degree in human development and family relations from the University of Connecticut, School of Family Studies.
