The work will begin Monday and is scheduled to last about five days.

Beachgoers will still have access to the lockers, bathrooms and Joey’s throughout the week.

Work will be done from 7 a.m to 5 p.m.

“While it was hoped that minimal repairs to the roof structure would allow us to keep it in place throughout this summer before replacing it, it was determined that was not a feasible option,” said Parks and Recreation Director Jennifer Fava. “So, in the interest of safety, it must be removed.”

Because the roof is a stand-alone structure, the brick walls will remain intact.

Fava said her department is working on alternatives to offer shade for this beach season.

“We apologize for the short notice and the inconvenience,” she said. “However, the safety of our residents and beach users is our highest priority.”
