Instead of waiting for the melodic "ring" that often drives down your street announcing its arrival, Jim Malin is all about summoning ice cream trucks via an app called Ice Cream Track.

He's not the developer -- a guy in Poland is -- but Malin is one of the first people to discover and test it.

He said he found the new app after doing an online search and contacting the developer.

This was last summer. Time went on and Malin said there were still some bugs the developer was working out. It's been up and running since mid-June -- but still needs a marketing push. "People are usually very happy to hear about it," said Malin, a former Port Chester, N.Y. resident.

The app works two ways: Customers can order ice cream which basically means that the ice cream truck will stop by their house while passing through their neighborhood.

The second option is to schedule a visit when the customer is having a party at a future date.

Right now Malin is focusing on developing the app in Fairfield County.
