They also got to hear first-hand how the money raised by the group — which totaled $85,000 at this event alone — can make a huge difference in the life of a client at the Darien-based Person-to- Person.
The proceeds from the event will fund several programs and initiatives at Person-to- Person, including its emergency assistance program, food pantries and clothing centers.
While guests enjoyed delicious food, live music and lawn games, the most meaningful part of the evening was a poignant speech delivered by Laila Bravo, a former client of Person-to- Person.
“When I was pregnant with my second child, I lost my job. Soon after, I became a client of Person-to- Person, seeking assistance with groceries and clothing for my family. I saw for myself just how generous Person-to-Person is. I am blessed, and I have always been thankful,” she said.
After Bravo's speech, Lindsay Rogers, Co-President of OPUS, said: “This is exactly why OPUS exists. This is why we work so hard to make these events happen. Laila and her two daughters got what they needed – food and clothes – because of the funds we raised.”
Opus said it is grateful that Ring’s End and Stamford Hospital were the lead sponsors of its annual fall fundraiser, and that Evolution Air contributed generously to the fundraising event.
