Connecticut Realtors Award Scholarships To 2 New Canaan Residents

NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- The Connecticut Realtors announced its 2015 Raymond F. Gates Jr. Memorial Scholarship winners.

The Raymond F. Gates, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 1976 in memory of Raymond F. Gates,Jr., following his tragic death in an automobile accident. Gates was the executive vice president of the Connecticut Realtors.

Over the past 39 years, children of Realtors have been awarded scholarships totaling more than $800,000. For the 2014-2015 academic years, the Connecticut Realtors received more than 120 applications. This year, 43 outstanding children of the company were selected to receive a total of $37,000 in scholarships.

The New Canaan Board of Realtors announced that two local recipients were among the 43 selected. Ted O’Rourke, son of Lisa O’Rourke, and Katherine Luciano, daughter of Carrie Luciano, were selected by the Selection Committee.

Gates, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Selection Committee were Barbara Adler, Northern Fairfield County Association of Realtors; Arlene Bubbico, New Canaan Board of Realtors; Merry Cassabria, Eastern Connecticut Association of Realtors; Felix DuVerger, Greater Hartford Association of Realtors; Michael Frascatore, Valley Association of Realtors; and Richard Naples, Mid State Association of Realtors.
