ESPN president George Bodenheimer will be the guest speaker Sunday at 5 p.m. as part of the New Canaan Library’s “Conversations With Business Leaders” series.
Bodenheimer, who lives in New Canaan, will offer an inside look at the history of the sports network and what has made it the success story it is. He will discuss the culture of the company, the people who make it all come together, and the importance of an entrepreneurial spirit and the belief that hard work really does pay off.
“We are so fortunate that George has enthusiastically agreed to be our featured speaker this year,” said Library Executive Director Alice Knapp. “We look forward to a fascinating, behind-the scenes exploration of what drives excellence and how success breeds further success.”
Bodenheimer was named president of ESPN in 1998. He was appointed president of ABC Sports in 2003 and co-chairman of Disney Media Networks in 2004.
Previous speakers in the series have included David Calhoun, chairman and CEO of the Nielsen Company (2010), and Bob Seelert, chairman of Saatchi & Saatchi (2009).
The annual series aims to offer information on the business world and the state of the economy and the opportunity to learn from the leadership and business expertise of the speakers.
