From midnight to 11:59 p.m. March 5, residents are encouraged to donate toward local philanthropic organizations of their choice through FCGives.org. The minimum donation is $10.

According to the Nonprofit Finance Fund, 78 percent of nonprofit organizations in Connecticut saw a 78 percent increase in demand for their services in 2013, but 57 percent were unable to meet those demands due to reductions in contributions.

The Fairfield County Community Foundation, which initiated Giving Day, hopes to change those statistics.

Through the organization’s website, residents can choose to support different organizations supporting various causes. Their contributions also help these organizations complete for 30 cash prizes ranging from $500 to $25,000.  These additional awards are funded by lead sponsor Bank of America.

For more information about sponsorship opportunities, visit FCGives.org or call 203-750-3200.
